Beah's "A Long Way Gone," a story of redemption and hope, recounts his experiences as a child soldier in Sierra Leone. He moved to the United States in 1998 and later graduated from Oberlin College. He is a member of the Human Rights Watch Children’s Rights Division Advisory Committee.
