Festival Staff / February 8, 2010
The Tucson Festival of Books, March 13-14 2010, will have a variety of entertainers performing at the festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Here are some of the performers. Admission is free.
The Sonoran Sound Barbershop Quartet
The Sonoran Sound is an a cappella vocal quartet with a varied repertoire, including jazz and swing standards, pop ballads, '50s and '60s favorites, and traditional barbershop.
Determined Luddites
The Determined Luddites are one of Tucson's enduring acoustic bands, utilizing a variety of styles and instruments in energetic live shows and recordings. They were voted "best folk band" in the 2004, 2005, and 2007 Tucson Weekly Tammie Awards.
Ocotillo Poetry Slam Artists
Ocotillo Poetry Slam is a competitive, performance-based, audience-judged, interactive poetry reading. Poets compete with their own original work in a series of three rounds.
Bradley Sconzert
Bradley Sconzert's music is inspired by his life, the people in it, and his vast and varying experiences.
Deceptively Innocent
What is so amazing about Deceptively Innocent is that the members are all under 13 years of age and play like seasoned professionals.
The Opposables
The Opposables is a four-piece band hailing from Tucson. Dynamic vocals, romping guitar, harmonious bass, and rhythmic drums make up this blues-rock influenced band.
Wedgie
Wedgie was founded for an elementary school talent show. These days they range in age from 11 to 14, and their musicianship and performance have matured as well.
Retro Rockets
Retro Rockets are a classic rock '60s band featuring the work of artists such as the Beatles, the Beach Boys, the Turtles and the Monkees.
Deception 101
Deception101's rockers, ages 11 and 12, specialize in hard and soft rock.
El Camino Royales
El Camino Royales, a Rockabilly-Surf-American Roots band, have been regular guests on Tucson’s channel 12 "D-Town" and KXCI's "Locals Only" radio program, and most recently, they opened for and were the backing band for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Wanda Jackson
