Workshops for educators, parents

The 2010 Tucson Festival of Books will feature special workshops for educators and parents. Local and national presenters are included in the eleven offerings.
-Local educator David Niecikowski will offer ideas for using games and books
to engage readers.
-Dr. Bobbi Mckean, UofA faculty member, will demonstrate how to read
aloud so that stories come alive for the listener.
-Local puppeteer Marge Eledeen will bring stories to life through the use
of puppets.
-Local author Lucille Penner, illustrator Lynn Avril and author/illustrator Joan Sandin
will discuss the writing and illustrating of easy readers.
-National storyteller Tim Tingle will demonstrate storytelling.
-National authors Alama Flor Ada and Isabel Campoy will share cultures and
stories in a family writing workshop.
-Dr. Frank Serafini from ASU will demonstrate how to talk with children
about books.
-National author Chris Eboch will conduct a writing workshop.
-National author Donalyn Miller, known as the Book Whisperer, will help
educators create rich classroom environments.
-National author Asma Mobin-Uddin will share information about Islam.
-National author Janette Ralllison will describe the process of writing for
teens.
